Darwin's Lord Mayor believes lawbreakers should be banned from the CBD for 12 months

Strengthening the banned drinker register and introducing a trespassing order are being touted as solutions to the city’s crime problems by Darwin’s Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis.

He's written to the Chief Minister suggesting that itinerants who break the law be suspended from the CBD for 12 month unless they have a medical or legal reason to be there and are accompanied by an escort.

He also believes extra lighting in the city won’t make a difference to anti-social behaviour with crime still occurring throughout the day.
