Fannie Bay Equestrian Club left shocked after sickening attack

One of the horses at the Fannie Bay Equestrian Club has died after a sickening attack in which two arrows were shot into its belly.

The much loved 19-year-old horse, Pearly, was found by a young teenager at the Club yesterday while on her way for an afternoon ride.

Shocked club members waited for the vet to arrive while they calmed Pearly but sadly, the injuries were too severe and Pearly was put to sleep late last night.

Fannie Bay Equestrian Club President Mel Brenton said the club has never had an incident like this before and the whole club is in disbelief.

“I just cannot fathom why someone would do that to a lovely 19-year-old mare that gives pony rides to many small children,” she said.

Pearly is rented by three families with young children and has been a popular fixture in the club’s pony come and try days.
