An Emergency Warning has been issued for a bushfire spreading in Darwin’s rural area.
The bushfire on Alverly Road Noonamah began on Sunday and has been upgraded to the highest level of Bushfires Alert at 11am Monday.
The Stuart Highway, between Cox Peninsula Road and Elizabeth Valley Road, is closed in both directions as a result of the bushfire.
Bushfires NT has enacted the emergency warning for homes in the area, as the fire is moving quickly and impacting homes north of Elizabeth Valley Road, Stuart Highway.
Smoke from the bushfire may affect driving visibility, with drivers in the area being urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions.
