A 30-year-old man has been arrested in after being caught allegedly attempting to steal from a business in Leanyer.
Authorities say a CCTV operator noticed the man walking in and out of a shop, eventually leaving with a cash register till shortly before 3.30 this morning (September 13).
He then attempted to hide behind nearby rubbish bins, and was arrested by local police a short time later.

He’s now being held at the Palmerston Watchouse and is expected to be charged with a series of property offences.
