At about 11pm on Thursday night police were waved down by security staff at Shenanigans on Mitchell Street to assist with a male who had presented to the location with a stab wound to his upper chest.
Police rendered first aid to the male before he was conveyed to the Royal Darwin Hospital by St Johns Ambulance in a critical condition.
Watch Commander Alex Noonan said subsequent enquiries with witnesses and CCTV indicated that the male had been stabbed to the chest with a broken glass bottle outside the ANZ bank on Smith Street moments prior to being located by Police.
“A male believed to be involved in the incident was arrested nearby,” said Watch Commander Noonan.
“Investigations into the matter are ongoing and anyone with information pertaining to the incident is urged to contact Police on 131 444.”
