A new Cyclone Tracy website has been launched by Darwin City Council hoping to commemorate the natural disaster.
The website will allow members of the community to submit their own records of the event including photos, books, artworks and documentaries.
Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis says the website was designed as a hub for sharing information, and to help locals discover initiatives commemorating the anniversary of the cyclone.
“The Cyclone Tracy 50th anniversary website is intended to be a hub to house details about events, activities and initiatives taking place, both locally and across the country, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Cyclone Tracy,” Mr Vatskalis says.
“The site includes information about all the activities taking place to commemorate Cyclone Tracy, including information about grant recipients, details about local events and activities and access to resources including podcasts, artworks and documentaries,” he says.
