Crews are searching for a woman missing near Wangi Falls

A land and air search is underway to try and find a woman who failed to return from a bush walk near Wangi Falls yesterday.

The 71 years-old woman was last seen at 11:30 on Sunday morning after setting out for a short walk around the Tabletop Walking Track.

Officers say she planned to meet with friends after the hike.

Superintendent Brendan Muldoon is urging any travellers in the area to keep an eye out for the woman.

“She is reportedly a fit and experienced hiker, however the terrain is challenging out there and we have concerns for her safety,” Superintendent Muldoon says.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 131 444.

She is described as Caucasian, 4 foot 5 inches tall, with blonde-grey hair.
