Bird causes teen to crash on Tiger Brennan Drive in Berrimah
A teenager has been taken to hospital after crashing while trying to dodge a bird in Berrimah.
It happened at about 1.30am on Tiger Brennan Drive.
Watch Commander Xavier McMahon says the driver was caught by surprise.
“A 17-year-old male driver attempted to avoid a collision with a bird that flew at his windscreen and in doing so lost control of his vehicle,” he says.
“The vehicle has then left the roadway before colliding with a metal barrier and it rolled onto its roof.”
He was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital with minor injuries.
Early investigations suggest inexperience could be a factor in the crash.
