Man jumped by group of men, armed with weapons in Alice Springs

A man has suffered serious injuries after being jumped by a group of men in Alice Springs.

The 47-year-old was walking along a service road adjacent to the Gap Road when he was attacked just after 11am yesterday.

Police say they physically assaulted him with weapons before stealing his wallet, which contained a large sum of cash.

The victim took himself to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Police are appealing for witnesses and any footage of the area around Gap Road and Brookes Street between 11am and noon.
