Royal treatment for NT students with letter from Queen
There's been a right royal celebration at Manyallaluk school, around 100 kilometres north-east of Katherine, after students received a letter from Buckingham Palace.
Teachers say they used the strategy of writing letters as a way to engage the children in literacy.
Queen Elizabeth's Lady-in-Waiting Mary Robinson penned the royal reply, saying Her Majesty was interested to hear the kids' stories.
In her letter to The Queen, Year 2 student, Alice wrote: ‘Dear Queen Elizabeth. Did you have a birthday cake? Old Mary was sitting down drinking a cup of tea watching the dogs chase a buffalo. But don't worry, she can run fast. From Alice.’
Students also received a letter from the Essendon Football club.
