CAREFLIGHT: A teenage girl was airlifted from Groote Eylandt to Darwin late last night after she suffered a suspected snake bite.

A CareFlight doctor and flight nurse on board a King Air turbo-prop aircraft met with the 17-year-old at Alyangula and praised Umbakumba Clinic staff for their initial treatment of the teenager.

CareFlight, who operates the Top End Medical Retrieval Service on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, flew the girl to Darwin and she arrived at Royal Darwin Hospital just after midnight in a stable condition.
