Banana Freckle Near Eradication
The Territory is one step closer to becoming banana freckle free.
The disease was first detected in the Territory in 2013, and a $26 million program was rolled out to eradicate the disease.
Inspectors are now checking the final 300 properties flagged with the disease.
If given the all clear the Government will submit a proof of freedom submission to the consultancy comittee.
In the meantime, anyone with banana plants is encouraged to check for the disease and report all sightings to the Department of Primary Industry and Resources.
