Opportunity To Join Libraries & Archives NT Reference Group

Archived-En.png

Library & Archives NT (LANT) is looking for members of the Territory community to join a new Community Reference Group (CRG). The CRG was established in 2016 to give the community a say in the direction of what was then called the Northern Territory Library.

In September 2019 the Northern Territory Library and Northern Territory Archives Service were brought together to create a new branch of the Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture – Library & Archives NT (LANT).

LANT is responsible for collecting, preserving, providing access to and promoting the history and documentary heritage of the Northern Territory. LANT collections include NT Government archives, books, newspapers, photographs, maps, magazines, ephemera, websites, letters, diaries, community and organisational records, and oral histories.

LANT also provides other archival services to the NT Government; develops public library services to meet the needs of the Territory’s diverse communities in partnership with local governments; and delivers a Parliamentary Library Service for members and staff of the Legislative Assembly.

LANT is establishing a new CRG to provide advice on how LANT can develop its collections, and how it can best share them with Territorians through events, exhibitions and online. The CRG will also provide advice that will enable LANT to continue to improve services, whether onsite in Darwin and Alice Springs or online.

Expressions of Interest to join the LANT Community Reference Group can be made online at http://ntl.nt.gov.au/community-reference-group. Applications close on Monday, 9 March 2020.
