Police seek stolen Olympic team gear owner
The owner of several Olympic and Commonwealth Games uniforms is being sought by police after the items were found in a stolen car on the Gold Coast.
Police discovered the items last year when the vehicle was searched in Merrimac, with three Australian Olympic team issue luggage bags containing uniforms and memorabilia inside.
Inside the bags were Australian team uniforms including tracksuits, shorts, shirts, singlets and Nike shoes.
Uniforms come from the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, police said.
The bags also contained items that appear to have been gifts from other athletes at the 2004 Athens Olympics including some Team USA-branded clothing.
A distinctive Team Victoria Little Athletics jacket signed by former British Olympic sprinter Linford Christie was also there.
The Australian Olympic Committee has been informed.
A man has been arrested and charged for the crime but police are hoping the owner of the items will come forward to be reunited with their kit.
