NQL DRW MIX Show Header Ryno

Meet Ryno

Ryan Khay, or Ryno to his mates (we're all mates now) is a Victorian born Queenslander who grew up in Papua New Guinea and is now back living and working in the Top End for the second time! He won't age himself by saying how long ago he lived here last time, but will say that his hair had colour and there was more of it, and Cyclone Ingrid was the big weather event.

Ryno is an absolute music lover, so much so that he's got a treble clef tattoo on his hand in Las Vegas. Ryno loves delivering the Flashback Lunch and is stoked that it's calorie free and full of musical goodness.

A Bombers fan for the AFL (Don't hold that against him) and a Broncos fan for the NRL. He hasn't picked a favourite NTAFL team yet and is open to bribes! lol

He loves the top end lifestyle and wants to get out and see as much of it as he can. He also likes pina coladas, and getting caught in the rain.

Ryno's other role at the station is the Content Director (fancy name for radio boss), so he's tasked with keeping Andrew & Sarah in line, supporting Katie Woolf on 360 and ensuring the Home Run with Ali is a smooth one. Aaron does his own thing with the 20/20 Retro countdown, Ryno has gone home by then.

For the Content Director role, Ryno brings a wealth of experience since he was last in the Top End and has picked up two ACRA Awards (The Logie Awards of Radio) for Best Program Director and has even had the chance to study radio across Europe and America. Ryno ran a radio network across PNG, based in Port Moresby, and also did 10 months working and living in Irrunytju Community running a first nations radio network across the Ngaanyatjarra Lands in remote WA.

He feels very privileged to now live and broadcast on Larrakia country for his role at Mix1049.

Tune in 12-3 weekdays (and the odd weekend, but he does the roster so not too often) for The Flashback Lunch, and all the songs you can sing along to, or google the lyrics for!

Got a suggestion for Mix1049, or just want to say hi, drop him a message.
