So Thunderbolts* came out today and if you’d like to know what we thought of it you can go check out our review of it here!
However, if you’ve seen it I’m sure you’re also a little confused about to what that end credit scene was about. But I’m sure you could recognise a certain number in it anyway…
But there a three important things that need to be talked about, if you don’t want to know more than stop reading now!
The Space Issue
After the credits roll and the newly formed New Avengers have had sometime to settle into their new dynamic we cut to 14 months later. Overlooking some of the choices in appearance for some characters, the team talk about an ongoing outer space problem. Now this could be a few things. Intergalactic war? Multiversal threat? Or, sadly, it’s most likely that an incursion in the MCU 616 universe has begun which could bring about the end of the universe.
Remember the end of Dr Strange 2 when Charlize Theron went to grab Stephen Strange to help stop an incursion, well it’s a good chance that incursion was in our earth. At this stage, we can’t know for sure what this out of space issue really is. But with this being the last movie in the 616 universe before Doomsday next year I’d put good money on it being our universe colliding with the X-Men Fox universe.
The New – New Avengers
The New Avengers discuss that Sam Wilson is currently creating a *new* new Avengers team, not confusing at all. So it’s been established that Captain America is in the process of uniting more heroes to fight an upcoming threat outside of the heroes in this film. So by the time Doomsday comes around, will we have a new line-up of heroes to fight the incoming evils?
Early Flight
Lastly, and obviously most importantly, yes that ship flying down to earth had the Fantastic Fours logo on it and yep, it looks identical to the one in the upcoming film so its certainly Pedro Pascal on his way to us. I haven’t heard an audience scream and cheer in a theatre in years until that logo came into view. But, it seems strange for this to be what Marvel has done. It kinda gives away and spoils what happens in its next film. Now we know, that 1. The Fantastic Four survive their encounter with Galactus and 2. For whatever reason they have left their own universe to come her. Whilst we can’t 100% confirm why they would come to our universe whether that be to just explore or they’ve evacuated a dying universe/destroyed earth. The first glimpse at our own MCU Fantastic Four is a real treat.
But with all this being the last we see of our earth before Doomsday there’s a lot to worry about. What’s the out of space problem? Why is Sam putting a team together? Why is the Fantastic Four coming here?
This all leads to a very frightening future for the 616 universe, one that we won’t have to wait too long to discover.
