Health Minister Steve Edgington says the details of private packages will be announced next week, a month out from the closure of maternity services at Darwin Private Hospital. 

He told Katie Woolf there will be planned, scheduled midwifery visits under those packages on top of domiciliary care that sees midwives do home visits, with 24/7 access to support via phone. 

Mr Edgington says there has been ongoing conversations with the Federal Government and NT Health, which started in February regarding upgrades to the RDH maternity ward and aesthetic improvements.
