NTG buys parcel of land for $7.5 million to expand Litchfield, providing access to waterfalls, gorges, hot springs, hunting and 4WD tracks

Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro says the NT Government bought a 30,000-hectare property for $7.5 million, expanding Litchfield National Park, because a private purchase could have limited future access to the site.

She told Katie Woolf the Silkwood property, near Adelaide River is the first addition to the national park estate in 25 years, providing access to stunning waterfalls, gorges, hot springs and 4WD tracks, with an area to be dedicated to hunting.

Regarding an increase to power prices, Ms Finocchiaro said 85,000 households and small businesses will be impacted by a 3 per cent increase, with a small number of “super users” to be charged at the small business rate if their usage exceeds 55 Kilowatt-hours from next year.
