Kumanjayi Walker inquest has had ‘insurmountable impact’ on police and some can’t continue in their roles, says NT Police Association

Police Association President Nathan Finn says the inquest into the death of Kumanjayi Walker has had an ‘insurmountable impact’ on members and some can’t continue policing.

He told Katie Woolf the whole NT Police Force isn’t racist but rather pockets of racism exist, which needs to be addressed but he says the whole force should not be tarred with the same brush.

Mr Finn says he supports recommendations to introduce mandatory drug and alcohol testing for officers after a critical incident and an early intervention policy to identify any ‘red flags’.
