Local Government Election Coverage with Katie Woolf – Litchfield Mayoral Candidates

Local Government Elections in the NT are in full swing and Katie Woolf speaks to some of the contenders vying to become the next Mayor of Litchfield.

Incumbent Doug Barden says he has delivered on his commitments regarding roads, keeping Holtze under the Council’s jurisdiction and increasing funding for reserves and is promising to keep rates down, grow reserves and seal more roads if re-elected.

Litchfield Mayor candidate Mark Sidey says he’s keen to deliver a new vision and resolve division with the current council, committing to keep rate increases low while enhancing services, make disposal of domestic waste items free and expand reserves for recreational use.

Litchfield Mayor candidate Rachael Wright says she’s been involved in every part of the community for a number of years and is promising to keep rates low through better budget management, increase investment in infrastructure and community facilities and wants the Council to adopt a more innovative vision.
