Thirteen candidates have nominated to become Darwin’s next Lord Mayor in the Local Government Elections and Katie Woolf speaks to some of the contenders to find out why they are running and what they promise to deliver.

Darwin Lord Mayor candidate Edwin Joseph says he’s running in the election to make decisions in the best interest of ratepayers, committing to do more community consultation, deliver greening and shade, parking improvements and ensure Council is more transparent.

Darwin Lord Mayor candidate Andrew Arthur says he wants to unleash Darwin’s potential, listen and consult more with the community, committing to plant more shade trees, would review the Civic Centre project and deliver more lighting in laneways and parks to prevent anti-social behaviour.
