A man has been arrested after allegedly stealing a taxi in Malak.
Police say a taxi driver was threatened with an edged-weapon just before midnight (August 8), when he asked for pre-payment on a trip.
It’s alleged the passenger then jumped into the front seat and left with the car.

Authorities were able to track the alleged offender by using an Electronic Monitoring Device.
He has been taken to the Palmerston Watch house, with charges expected to be laid this morning (August 9).
The driver of the taxi was uninjured, but was reportedly shaken-up following the incident.
