Opposition calls for the NT Attorney-General to resign after she failed to publicly declare her relationship to a fatal hit and run driver

Member for Gowja Chansey Paech has taken aim at Attorney-General Marie-Clare Boothby for failing to disclose her relationship to a driver sentenced over a fatal hit and run, saying she only did so after being caught out by the media.

He told Katie Woolf the NT’s first law officer should be open, transparent and accountable and it’s hard to have trust in someone who isn’t disclosing conflicts and being upfront.

Asked about whether a number of recent court sentences in the NT were adequate, Mr Paech said the public needs to be better informed on how and why judges reach their sentencing decisions.
