Major energy reforms to be debated in NT parliament to ensure reliability and affordability
Minister for Mines and Energy Gerard Maley says major energy reforms being introduced to NT parliament today would see system control run by an independent body instead of Power and Water Corporation and create a new governance arrangement for the procurement of electricity assets.
He told Katie Woolf the system controller will be responsible for ensuring power is spread across the network at the best possible price and when it is needed.
Asked about Trump and Albo’s landmark agreement on critical minerals, with equity investment committed to the Arafura Nolans project, Mr Maley said it is a game-changer for Central Australia with the project pitched to deliver a major economic and jobs boost.
