$10million in funding secured to upgrade Royal Darwin Hospital
After months of political back and forth, the Prime Minister has announced $10million will feature in the Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) to upgrade Royal Darwin Hospital’s maternity ward.
The upgrade will refurbish birthing suites, the maternity ward and newborn services, while adding private bathrooms, new family spaces and upgraded monitoring technology.
The improvements will also introduce centralised foetal monitoring to every maternity centre across the Territory for the first time.
It’s a big win for the Our Birth Our Voice advocacy group which has pushed strongly for extra support.
