Addressing addiction, getting people into work and tougher laws, the CLP’s plan to address DV

Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro says the CLP would focus on dealing with alcohol addiction and getting people into work in a bid to tackle domestic violence.

It comes as NT Police revealed it will overhaul its approach to DFSV from next week during coronial inquests into the deaths of four women at the hands of their partners.

On the government’s cabinet reshuffle, Ms Finocchiaro told Katie Woolf she is keen to find out more detail following the separation of the Police Department from Fire and Emergency Services.

She also said security guards patrolling Darwin streets have an important role to play, taking aim at the government for not doing enough to support police and drive down crime.
