Alice Springs Hospital Emergency Department likened to a ‘war zone’ by Nursing Federation

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation’s NT secretary Cath Hatcher says scenes at the Alice Springs Hospital are heart-breaking and similar to a “war zone.”

She told Katie Woolf the facility is down 130 full time staff, with casuals and agency nurses helping to fill the void.

Ms Hatcher says the hospital hasn’t been fully staffed for years, mostly due to violence and COVID-19.
