World War II veteran and Bombing of Darwin survivor Brian Winspear AM has died peacefully aged 104 in Hobart.

The former air force pilot, navigator and gunner spoke to Katie Woolf in 2022 ahead of the 80th anniversary of the Bombing of Darwin.

Mr Winspear AM, who was 20 years old at the time of the air raid says thousands of bombs were dropped on the city in February 1942 and Darwin almost ceased to exist.
