Calls for emergency lockdowns and curfews in Alice Springs to curb crime over coming months

Member for Araluen Robyn Lambley is urging the new Police Minister to consider extreme measures to maintain law and order in Alice Springs with crime already flaring up ahead of summer, when it typically gets worse.

Ms Lambley told Katie Woolf she wrote to Brent Potter asking him to consider emergency lockdowns and curfews so the town doesn’t endure a repeat of crime like last year.

She says cities around the world like Edinburgh have put up bollards and gates in times of rioting and while it looks confronting it could be a solution for Alice Springs.
