Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro says Stuart Knowles was appointed as the Territory Coordinator after a merit-based process, saying he is remorseful, regretful and has apologised for allowing his dogs to become tick infested more than 10 years ago.

Asked about crime concerns and a lack of alcohol restrictions in Katherine, the Chief pointed to a review that is underway of the Banned Drinker Register, which will examine consequences and ways to expand it.

Ms Finocchiaro also told Katie Woolf she is now working with the Queensland Premier to get a large shipment of fireworks to the NT for Territory Day after it was seized by authorities in NSW and then QLD.
