Chief Minister defends curfew laws and lack of governance oversight of Darwin Ship Lift
NT Chief Minister Eva Lawler says transit safety officers and security guards can now tip out alcohol being consumed in public and bottle shop staff can refuse sales to people without an appropriate address to consume liquor.
Regarding a report by the Auditor General saying there was a lack of governance oversight for the $515 million Darwin shiplift project, Ms Lawler said that was due to cabinet confidence and commitments made under the Giles Government.
Ms Lawler also told Katie Woolf there are penalties of up to 16 years jail for assaults on workers with almost 1,000 public servants assaulted between July 2022 and March last year, adding it’s also why they’re rolling out OC spray.
