Chief Minister responds to stabbing at Darwin Show, with Youth Justice reforms being introduced on urgency to NT parliament

Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro says it is absolutely unacceptable that a 15-year-old boy allegedly stabbed another boy the same age at the Royal Darwin Show, which should have been a place of fun not fear.
The Chief told Katie Woolf Youth Justice Reforms will be introduced on urgency to NT Parliament this week, which will make youth detention mandatory, scrap ‘detention as a last resort’ and force courts to focus more on victims.
Asked about racism accusations against the NT Government by the NT’s four Land Councils the Chief Minister said the Land Councils should be focused on doing their jobs and driving economic development, strongly rejecting suggestions the CLP’s policies are racist.
