Chief Minister ‘shocked’ and ‘saddened’ by crime but has no plans to reform youth crime laws
Chief Minister Eva Lawler says the government has no plans to further legislate to prevent youth crime.
She told Katie Woolf government agencies including Territory Families and the Department of Education need to work in a more coordinated way with police and to engage kids in school.
Ms Lawler says lowering the age of criminal responsibility wouldn’t make any difference, instead suggesting wrap around support and programs are vital to get kids back on track.
