Chief responds to revelations youth involved in ramming cop cars have extensive history of offending
Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro says a group of youth allegedly in stolen cars ramming police vehicles in Alice Springs, many who reportedly have an extensive history of offending, reinforces the raft of legislation the government is keen to pass in the first sittings of NT parliament.
She told Katie Woolf the government will scrap the alcohol floor price, saying it’s pushing people to hard spirits with more being sent on grog, despite calls by the Association of Alcohol and other Drug Agencies Northern Territory to keep it in place.
Ms Finocchiaro says she’s outlined to all government departments that reducing crime is the priority of all agencies and public servants leading to a more coordinated approach, with more police also on the streets.
