CLP asks why a curfew wasn’t called amid large street brawls with weapons in Alice Springs

Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro is questioning why a curfew wasn’t called for Alice Springs with large groups fighting with weapons, people injured and cars set on fire on the weekend.

She told Katie Woolf the new curfew laws are just the government’s way of appearing to be taking action on crime.

Ms Finocchiaro says consequences such as boot camps for youth need to be put in place around curfews so police don’t become a taxi service.
