CLP commits to introduce minimum mandatory sentencing for DV offences after alleged murder

Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro says the CLP would introduce minimum mandatory sentencing for serious violent offences including domestic violence if it wins government in August.

It comes after a woman was alleged raped and murdered by a man known to her in Coconut Grove on the weekend.

Ms Finocchiaro says in addition to that, the CLP would make sure offenders undergo behavioural change programs in prison.

She also told Katie Woolf the Opposition would work closely with St Vinnies on a suitable permanent site for its homelessness services, taking aim at the government for dragging its feet on negotiations.
