CLP plans to raise payroll tax-free threshold to $2.5 mill for small business but it’ll cost $43 mil

Opposition spokesperson for small business Marie-Clare Boothby says the CLP’s plan to raise the payroll tax-free threshold to $2.5 million for small business would allow operators to hire more staff or make further investments.

But she told Katie Woolf it would cost $43 million and promised to release costings ahead of the NT Election in August.

Ms Boothby says the CLP would also make apprentice and trainee wages exempt from payroll tax, enticing businesses to put more on.
