CLP would not raise age of criminal responsibility listening to Territorians over experts

Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro says raising the age of criminal responsibility diminishes consequences for young offenders and disempowers police.

The NT today becomes the first jurisdiction to raise the age of criminal responsibility from 10 to 12 with anyone under that age to be referred to a therapeutic program.

Ms Finocchiaro is questioning how kids will be forced to undertake the program.

She also told Katie Woolf a CLP government would make breach of bail an offence, keep the age of criminal responsibility as is and empower police.
