Health Minister says ‘business as usual’ at Darwin Private Hospital despite, operator Healthscope entering voluntary receivership

Health Minister Steve Edgington says Health Ministers from across the country will meet today after private hospital operator, Healthscope, announced it has gone into voluntary receivership.

He told Katie Woolf Healthscope has reassured him it will be business as usual at Darwin Private Hospital while receivers work to find new long-term owners.

Mr Edgington says he is concerned about what it means for the future, with contingency planning underway.

A week out from the closure of maternity services at Darwin Private, the Minister says he is continuing to work with the Federal Government to secure funding to upgrade the maternity ward at Royal Darwin Hospital.
