Hospitals right across the NT are 420 full time equivalent nurses down, making it worse than it was at the heart of Covid

Australian Nursing & Midwifery Federation NT Secretary Cath Hatcher says the NT’s population of Indigenous residents, chronic illnesses, and GP’s increasing fees are factors in an increase of hospital presentations.
It comes as new data has been released showing the number of people visiting the Emergency department in the NT is at a 10-year high.
Ms Hatcher told Katie Woolf that people are going to ED for minor things, instead of visiting their GP.
She also says nursing and midwifery staffing levels are worse than it was before and during Covid.
