Hospo industry claims licence suspensions being misused and naming and shaming has to stop

Hospitality NT CEO Alex Bruce claims licence suspensions for pubs and clubs are being misused and he’s written to the major parties outlining his concerns and says both have committed to review the suspensions.

It comes after police issued a correction and retraction regarding Bojangles Saloon in Alice Springs, which was served 48-hour suspension notice after a large street brawl last month, with Police saying a review of CCTV found its patrons were not the main instigators and there were no lapses of RSA.

Mr Bruce told Katie Woolf the naming and shaming of venues needs to stop, adding that they’re being thrust into the national spotlight amid the crime crisis in Alice Springs.
