Kirby family, behind Max’s Cast for a Cure provide support to a Katherine family, whose baby girl has been diagnosed with brain cancer

The Kirby family, who hold a fishing competition each year called Max’s Cast for a Cure to honour their little boy who lost his battle with brain cancer have rallied to support a young Katherine family whose daughter Zahli was recently diagnosed with brain cancer.

Naomi Kirby told Katie Woolf, Zahli’s tumor was detected during her 12-month check-up and the family were rushed to Brisbane for emergency surgery, but doctors couldn’t remove it all.

She says the family is now preparing to return home with a devastating prognosis.

Ms Kirby says they’re providing support to the family having gone through a similar journey and have donated $5,000 to help ease their financial woes.
