Labor criticizes CLP for pausing undergrounding of power to reprioritize funds and manage debt
Opposition Leader Selina Uibo says it’s a low blow the CLP Government has paused the undergrounding of power in Darwin suburbs after many people lost food and sweltered without air conditioning for up to 11 days after Cyclone Marcus
It’s one of three projects put on the back burner as the government reallocates funding to deliver its election commitments after inheriting $9 billion of debt from Labor.
Ms Uibo is also questioning how the government arrived at $115 million, which it expects to save over four years by also suspending negotiations with the NBL about a local franchise and deferring upgrades to the Darwin Convention Centre.
She also told Katie Woolf Richard Fejo’s resignation from Darwin Waterfront speaks volumes and says she respects his stance against locking 10-year-olds up and acknowledged community frustration that Labor didn’t deliver enough youth programs.
