Labor leader says she’s not been to check on a Katherine cafe, right next door to her office, after spate of burglaries and staff assaults

Opposition Leader Selena Uibo dodged questions about the $7.4 million cost of the inquest into the death of Kumanjayi Walker, suggesting Labor may support future changes to rein costs in while criticising the government for not yet responding to the recommendations.
The Labor leader told Katie Woolf she hadn’t been in to see the owner of the Coffee Club in Katherine after three burglaries and multiple assaults on staff and bystanders six days ago, despite her office being two doors down.
Ms Uibo says while’s she’s not the local member for Katherine she is happy for people to approach her about issues, adding that the town needs more support from the government and police to address ongoing crime.
