Luke Gosling sheds light on interest in Darwin Port, with Australian hands the priority, adding that the Feds won’t be bailing out Healthscope

Member for Solomon Luke Gosling hopes a commercial deal can be done for the Darwin Port, saying the Federal and NT Infrastructure Ministers are working to return the Port to Australian hands.

He told Katie Woolf Commonwealth powers could be exercised if it comes to that, but the Prime Minister has put no timeframe on the acquisition of the lease.

Asked for an update on the collapse of Healthscope, Mr Gosling said the Federal Government would not be bailing out the private equity owners, but promised to ensure Territorians continue to have access to private services.

He says the Federal Government is still seeking information from NT Health on its submission for funding to upgrade the maternity ward at RDH with private services closing at Darwin Private Hospital next week.
