Marion Scrymgour hopes to inspire Indigenous kids after becoming first Aboriginal Speaker & commits to talks for Medicare clinic in Katherine
Member for Lingari Marion Scrymgour hopes to use her role as the first Aboriginal Speaker of the Lower House in Canberra to inspire Indigenous kids to be more engaged in politics and consider elected roles.
Asked about crime in Katherine, Ms Scrymgour told Katie Woolf Aboriginal leaders need to step up and she promised to facilitate a roundtable discussion with key stakeholder, adding that the issues in Katherine need to be elevated like they were in Alice Springs.
In regards to concerns about a lack of access to doctors in Katherine, Ms Scrymgour said the town absolutely needs a Medicare urgent care clinic, committing to have talks with the Health Minister.
