Member for Solomon commits to review the 5 per cent home buyer deposit scheme in response to concerns the property price cap is restrictive
Member for Solomon Luke Gosling says there are a lot of homes on the Greater Darwin market under $600,000, which is the NT’s property price cap under the Federal Government’s first home buyer 5 per cent deposit scheme.
Asked if he would review the property price cap in response to concerns by property analysts, the NT Property Council, local brokers, real estate agents and residents, Mr Gosling said the scheme would be reviewed but the government doesn’t want people to overcommit and not be able to service their mortgage repayments.
He also told Katie Woolf he will take a look at the price of rural properties to ensure first time buyers opting to live rural can also access the scheme.
