Minister defends the NT’s youth justice system following scathing media report
Minister for Territory Families Kate Worden has defended the government’s action on recommendations made from the Royal Commission into the Protection and Detention of Children in the NT.
It comes after a report on the ABC’s Four Corners program revealed some of the recommendations had been disregarded, with little change in the last five years.
But Ms Worden says the recommendations were considered and closed for various reasons, with significant reforms made to the youth justice system.
She also told Katie Woolf only one complaint of 400 allegations made about Don Dale in the last year had been raised with her.
