Minister says cruise ship passengers not avoiding Darwin CBD but are opting for chopper tours

Katie Woolf caught up with Minister for Infrastructure and Tourism Joel Bowden for an update on road closures and access to WA following the severe weather and flooding across the NT.

Mr Bowden says he’s not aware of cruise ship passengers being told to avoid Darwin CBD because shops are closed and it’s unsafe but indicated visitors are getting on helicopters to explore the NT.

He told Katie Woolf, he is working with the cruise ship industry around arrival times and local businesses regarding their opening hours, with efforts underway to fill empty shops.
