Nation’s Attorney-General’s agree to work together to strengthen Working with Children Checks and implement changes by the end 2025

Attorney-General Marie Clare Boothby says she agrees with comments by the Chief Justice Micahel Grant about traditional violence and alcohol being used as excuses for domestic violence, adding that she meets with him regularly and is committed to finding new ways to reduce violence.

Ms Boothby also told Katie Woolf that Attorney-General’s from across the country have agreed to strengthen Working with Children Checks, which fall under state and territory jurisdiction, with the changes to be implemented by the end of the year.

She says the NT is the only place without access to the National Reference System which is something she’ll work with the Commonwealth to address.
